If you long for a bit of peace and quiet, love a sea facing location, a hearty breakfast and service with a smile then the Invernairne is the place for you. It is an impressive building, steeped in history, situated on the sea front in Nairn with panoramic views to the Black isle.
The owners Doug and Kay Mitchell, downgraded to the title of Guest house from hotel in 2004. The only difference being that an evening meal is no longer served. But there is no shortage of eateries in the town, so that is no problem.
A good business thrives on teamwork. Doug and Kay are such a team, and there is something rather heartwarming about a couple who genuinely seem to enjoy what they do.
In the spacious dining room, breakfast is served accompanied by soft background music. On my very first visit Our Bard's song, My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose whispered in my ear, almost bringing a lump to my throat as I took in the amazing vista before me. If you have an imagination, a love of the sea and all things non pretentious, then why not give the Invernairne a try. I am sure you will find yourself, returning there over and over again.
