THE RAPIDS OF TIME
Lying beside the wrong person
terribly alone and mind in turmoil,
I focussed on a star, diamond bright
leaking through a midnight sky
so very, very far away.
Did someone up there
lie beside the wrong person
and soak feather pillows
with silent tears,
as deep alien breaths soothed
the sound of thumping heart?
No answers came
the night so full of questions,
regret and finally dreams
that swirled emotions wildly
through the rapids of time.
Time, the one thing that finally
catches us all, changes our direction,
erases doubt when the moment comes
and answers tumble from infinity.
The choice is made
dreams become reality
the nightmare over
beneath that shining star.
